Use of cookies

In order to improve the operation of our Internet pages for you and to ensure their effective functionality, we use cookies.

A cookie is a small text file that is transferred from a web server to the hard drive of an Internet user. If the corresponding server of our Internet pages is called up again by the user of the Internet pages and/or the customer, the browser of the user of the Internet pages and/or the customer sends the previously received cookie back to the server. The server can then evaluate the information obtained through this procedure in various ways. Cookies can be used, for example, to control advertising or to make it easier to navigate a website.

By confirming the cookie declaration displayed the first time you visit the website or by continuing to visit and use the website after the declaration has been displayed, you agree to the storage of cookies on your computer.

You can deactivate the use of cookies at any time via the settings of your browser (e.g. Safari, Firefox, Opera, Microsoft Internet Explorer) or configure your browser so that you are informed about the placement of cookies and their content. For details, please refer to the help function of your Internet browser. However, we would like to point out that we cannot then rule out the possibility that some functions of our Internet offering may not be available or may not be fully usable.

Session cookies: We use session cookies. In a web store, for example, these enable a cross-page shopping cart display in which you can see how many items are currently in your shopping cart. Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.

Use of third-party cookies

We use the web analytics service Cookies Script (open source tool) on our website for statistical analysis of visitor traffic. Cookies Script uses cookies for this analysis.

In the process, a cookie may be set on the user’s terminal device, via which activities can be tracked and, for example, recurring visits can be recognized. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website.

If you call up individual pages of our website, the following data will be stored:

Two bytes of the IP address of the calling system of the user.
The web page called up
The website from which you accessed our website
The subpages that you call up on our website
The time you spend on our website
The time of your visit to our website
The frequency with which you visit our website

Your IP address is immediately pseudonymized during this process, so that you are not recognizable to us as a user. The data is not passed on to third parties.

Our legitimate interest is in a statistical analysis of user behavior and for optimization and marketing purposes in accordance with Art. 6 (1) lit. f DSGVO.

Use of the Facebook button

Our website uses the button of the social networks Instagram.com and facebook.com. These particular services are operated by Facebook Inc, 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA. The button is marked with the Facebook logo “f” and the addition “Like”. When you call up a web page on our website that contains the button, your browser establishes a direct connection with Facebook’s servers. The information about the button is transmitted by Facebook directly to your browser and integrated by it into the website, Facebook simultaneously receives the information that this page is called up. If you are logged into Facebook at this moment, Facebook can assign the visit to your Facebook account – even if you do not click the button. If you click the “Like” button, the corresponding information is transmitted from your browser directly to Facebook and stored there.

For more information on data collection and the further processing and use of data by Facebook, as well as setting options for protecting your privacy, please refer to the privacy policy of facebook.com. If you do not want Facebook to collect personal data about you via our website, you simply need to log out of Facebook before visiting our website. You can also completely prevent the loading of Facebook plugins with add-ons for your browser.

Privacy policy for the use of YouTube

We use the plugin of the service YouTube, which belongs to Google Inc. based in San Bruno/California, USA. The plugin is recognizable on our site by the symbol of the black “YouTube” or the red video icon, or there is also a current video that can be clicked. If you select the symbol, content or term on one of our pages that contains such a button, your browser establishes a direct connection with the servers of Youtube. The YouTube server thus receives information about which particular page of our website you have visited. If, on top of this, you are logged in to your YouTube account, you would enable YouTube to assign your surfing behavior directly to your personal profile. You can prevent this possibility of association if you log out of your account beforehand.

Competitions

On learnenglishwithfiona.com as well as beyond (online, in the social media sites used by the publisher), we offer you to participate in competitions organized by us. The prizes are always sent to you by us. The author uses a transport company for this purpose. We use the data provided as part of the participation in the competition exclusively for the purpose of processing the prizes. The legal basis for the processing of data in the context of the prize draw is Art. 6 (1) b) DSGVO. Your data will be deleted no later than four weeks after the draw, unless a longer period is specified in the sweepstakes. The legal basis for the transmission of data to the respective transport partner (usually dhl) is Art. 6 para. 1 b) DSGVO.
